Adult ADHD Treatment
Adults suffering from ADHD typically struggle more than children, for a reason: the childhood safety measures that helped them overcome their inattention and impulsivity to be socially supervised, despite the mundane necessities of life no longer exist. Behavioral psychotherapy and medication can aid.
Counseling for adults with ADHD generally includes psychological counseling (psychotherapy). Cognitive behavioral therapy can be a part of the program.
Support Groups

Support groups can be a great source of comfort, as participants learn -- sometimes for the first time in their lives -that they're not isolated. Many of these groups are led by peers, but there are also national organizations that sponsor regional networking and educational events. ADDitude magazine, for example offers a variety of virtual peer-support groups to its readers, including ones for adults who are newly diagnosed, couples impacted by ADHD as well as intellectually gifted adults and individuals looking for jobs.
More methods are generally scheduled at convenient times and locations, but online support groups are available to help people with scheduling conflicts connect with other members across the country. Google provides you with a variety of virtual options. New groups are created as ADDA members share their unique experiences and needs. Many of these groups are completely free but some charge a nominal fee to cover advertising costs and to pay speakers.
